About the series
Jinx Manhwa Summary (spoiler-free)
Jinx is a BL manhwa written and illustrated by Mingwa. It follows Kim Dan, a kind-hearted physical therapist drowning in debt. Between loan sharks and the cost of caring for his ailing grandmother, he is running out of options — until a job offer arrives from an unexpected client.
That client is Joo Jaekyung, an undefeated MMA champion at the top of the fighting world. Jaekyung is powerful, feared, and deeply superstitious: he believes a personal “jinx” hangs over his matches, and he demands a particular kind of treatment from Kim Dan before every fight. What starts as a professional arrangement quickly becomes something far more complicated and dangerous.
As the story unfolds, the relationship between the two men shifts and deepens. Kim Dan fights to hold on to his dignity in an arrangement he never chose, while Jaekyung — so controlled inside the ring — reveals cracks in his armor outside of it. Around them, the high-stakes world of professional fighting keeps the pressure on.
Readers often describe Jinx as an emotional slow burn: tense, dramatic, and character-driven, with Mingwa’s expressive artwork carrying as much of the story as the dialogue. New to Korean comics? Manhwa is the Korean term for comics — English-speaking readers sometimes call Jinx a manga, but it is a full-color Korean webtoon designed to be read in a vertical scroll.
An intense, character-driven BL manhwa about power, debt, and desire — set in the high-stakes world of MMA.
Jinx manhwa characters
Meet the Characters
Two men bound by circumstance, separated by power — yet drawn to each other in ways neither can explain or escape.
Kim Dan
Physical Therapist
A gentle, hardworking therapist buried under debt and struggling to care for his grandmother. Despite everything working against him, he clings to his dignity — until Jaekyung’s offer forces him into an arrangement that tests his limits and slowly changes him.
Joo Jaekyung
MMA Champion
Undefeated, intimidating, and ruled by superstition. Jaekyung dominates everyone around him, yet his fixation on breaking his personal “jinx” exposes a more fragile side beneath the champion’s exterior — one that only Kim Dan ever really sees.
Park Namwook
Jaekyung’s Friend
One of the few people close to Joo Jaekyung, Namwook offers a steadier, more grounded presence in the story. His perspective often highlights just how far outside normal life Jaekyung’s world — and his treatment of Kim Dan — really is.
Kim Dan’s Grandmother
Family
The person Kim Dan loves most — and the reason behind much of his debt. His devotion to her care is what drives his hardest decisions, making her a quiet but powerful emotional anchor for the entire story.

Themes & What Makes Jinx Popular
Why this BL manhwa has kept readers hooked across 100+ chapters.
Expressive, detailed artwork
Mingwa’s art is one of the series’ biggest draws — highly detailed character work where tension, fear, and tenderness all read clearly on the page. The full-color webtoon format makes every panel feel cinematic.
Emotional depth
Beneath the drama, Jinx is a story about two damaged people. Kim Dan’s quiet endurance and Jaekyung’s hidden vulnerability give the series an emotional core that goes well beyond its premise.
Power dynamics & psychology
The series explores control and surrender — who holds power, how debt and obligation distort relationships, and what happens when that balance starts to shift. It’s psychological as much as romantic.
The MMA backdrop
The professional fighting world gives Jinx its pressure-cooker atmosphere: superstition, physical risk, fame, and money. Jaekyung’s “jinx” ritual ties the sports setting directly into the central relationship.
Slow-burn character growth
Neither lead stays the same person they were in Chapter 1. Watching Kim Dan find his footing — and Jaekyung confront what he actually wants — across dozens of chapters is a major reason readers stay invested.
Serial storytelling that rewards patience
As an ongoing series, Jinx builds momentum chapter by chapter. Long-running plot threads and shifting dynamics mean rereads often reveal details you missed the first time.
Reader advisory
Jinx is intended for mature readers (18+). It contains explicit sexual content, depictions of power imbalance, and other adult themes. Reader discretion is advised — this is not a series for younger audiences.
